Prism is on pause

Our staff is taking the week off for much-needed rest, reflection, and relaxation.

The last year-plus has taken its toll on us, both as human beings and as journalists of color. We’ve lived and worked through an ongoing pandemic, an unimaginably long election, an insurrection, and the steady drumbeat of violence inflicted particularly on Black and Asian American communities, immigrants, and many others.

All of us at Prism believe deeply in our responsibility to cover and contextualize the news as it unfolds, for our readers; we also believe deeply in our responsibilities to ourselves, to each other, and our collective mental and physical health. We’ve got to be whole and healthy to do this critical work, and that’s not simply possible without rest.

With that in mind, we’re taking a week off to relax and recharge. Our site and social media will go quiet while we’re away, with no new stories published. Our break begins May 10, and we’ll be back on May 17.

In the meantime, we hope you’ll be able to take some time, space, and rest for yourselves too.
