Chinatown residents won’t let a global pandemic stop them from fighting gentrification

On May 1, tenants of 81 Bowery in New York City released a black and white banner from the top of their apartment building that said “Rent Strike!” in both English and Chinese. They joined thousands of tenants across the city and country who are demanding that landlords cancel rent.
